Funding application for EXIST research transfer

Project applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis, but are collected by March 31, August 31 and November 30.

Who is the applicant and what is being submitted?

Applications for funding phase I are submitted by the university or non-university research institution.

1. application

In the first step, the project applications (AZA /AZK /AZV) of the research teams are submitted by the university or research institution. Applicants are asked to use the electronic application system easy-Online to be used.

The documents contain:

  • Details of the founding team (Annex I.1)
    • Form according to Annex I.1 for each person, supplemented by a copy of the most recent certificate
  • Ideas paper according to the outline (Annex I.2a)
  • Work planning: Detailed explanation and scheduling of the work packages (Annex: I.2b)
  • Declaration on intellectual property rights (Annex I.3)
  • Declaration by the mentor (Annex I.4)
  • Declaration of the founding network (Annex I.5)
  • Declaration of awareness of the facts relevant to the subsidy (Annex I.6)
  • Declaration of acknowledgement of the information sheet on respect for the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (Annex I.7)
  • easy application (to the application system easy-Online)

Please upload the complete application documents (attachments 1-7) as a PDF in the easy online application system. It is no longer necessary to send them by post. We will return documents submitted by post.

The originals of all documents with signatures must be kept for 5 years after the end of the project and, if necessary, submitted as part of an on-site inspection.

2nd jury session

If the application is approved, applicants will be invited to present the project to a panel of experts. A presentation must be submitted upon request.

EXIST research transfer funding guideline

The EXIST Transfer of Research funding guideline came into force on 09.12.2014. The BMWK funding program EXIST Transfer of Research is co-financed by the European Social Fund. Corresponding adjustments to be observed when applying for funding can be found in the annexes to the funding decision and on the European Social Fund website.

Forms for funding applications, guidelines, information sheets and ancillary provisions can be downloaded from the "Forms cabinet" of the BMWK. The electronic application system "easy-Online" must be used for the application.

Application for funding phase II

Six months before the end of funding phase I, the application for funding in funding phase II can be submitted if the start-up is being pursued further.

Who is the applicant?

Applications are submitted by the established company or by a company in formation (i. G.). Before funding begins, the start-up must be completed (entry in the commercial register) and proof of the necessary equity capital must be provided. The key know-how providers from funding phase I should be represented by at least one person on the management board. Significantly more than 50 percent of the shares must be owned by the founders working in the company.

Which application documents are submitted?

  • Project application form AZK - Application system easy-Online, in electronic form
  • Detailed business plan (Annex II.1)
  • Presentation of the results of funding phase I (Annex II.2)
  • Project description and work plan for funding phase II (Annex II.3)
  • Acknowledgement of the facts relevant to the subsidy (Annex II.4)
  • Articles of association of the company
  • Proof of equity financing and proof that the share capital has been paid in full
  • Where relevant, contractual agreements with the university or research institution on the acquisition of patent or license rights
