INLEAP Photonics

High-precision laser technology for critical applications
How can high-precision laser systems be used for new security-related applications? The deep-tech startup INLEAP Photonics is addressing this question. The company develops laser systems for the safe neutralization of drones and the protection of critical infrastructure. With the INLEAP FASTLIGHT® SHIELD, the team is applying industrial laser technology to new fields of application and working on solutions that combine high precision, fast response times, and scalability.
Technology transfer played a central role in the journey from scientific development to company founding. As CFO and co-founder Katharina Haas explains, one of the biggest challenges was translating a highly complex technology from the research environment into an industrially relevant application context. After all, for a successful startup, it is not enough for a technology to work under research conditions; it must also be application-oriented and suitable for future market requirements. The funding made it possible to further develop the technology with the necessary depth while simultaneously laying the groundwork for the company. This allowed for technological maturity, initial structures, and team building to be advanced in parallel. A combination that, in Haas’s assessment, was crucial for the company’s further development.
Today, INLEAP Photonics is working to further scale its technology for industrial and security-related applications. Since its founding in 2023, the company has made significant progress and successfully completed a pre-seed funding round. The story of INLEAP Photonics exemplifies how the existing technology transfer program supports startup teams in transforming innovative technologies from academia into marketable solutions.
